University of New Orleans
The University of New Orleans hired JMH Consulting to help in the re-visioning of UNO’s continuing and professional education. For many years the University had a fairly large division, the Metropolitan College, which created and managed continuing and professional education. Due to the unprecedented 2009/10 cuts to the University’s State appropriation, the entire Metropolitan College was eliminated. UNO wanted to re-launch so that:
- The department aligned with the UNO brand and mission
- The programs offered were profitable and met a need in the community.
JMH worked with UNO on a consulting project to help achieve the above goals. The project included:
- Secondary market research to identify industries with potentially high training demand
- Competitor research to clarify how UNO should be positioned within the market
- A strategic planning session to help craft preliminary:
- Mission, vision, and values statement
- Guiding principles for the selection of new programs
JMH provided UNO with a nearly 40 page Program Roadmap, which is now being used to help craft the strategy for the launch of UNO’s Continuing and Professional Education.
